Royal Treatment

We’re in Beijing and today our stops had a royalty type theme. We spent the day at the Summer Palace where the Emperor and his wife (plus all the servants and concubines I imagine) used to spend their summers. There’s a man-made lake which I still can’t imagine how they built and a nice walkway that was built especially for the Empress to walk under.

For dinner we ate at a restaurant modeled to be a setting the Emperor used to dine in, servants and waitresses included, all in traditional wear. The garden was gorgeous.

Reminds me of a Chinese Mad Hatter tea party.

An Emperor’s spread.
